RHA® Dermal Filler
Hyaluronic acid is a miracle substance for those searching for natural anti-aging remedies. Naturally present in the human body, hyaluronic acid helps skin retain water, leading to a soft and youthful appearance. At North Florida Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics, our state-of-the-art Resistant Hyaluronic Acid (RHA) dermal filler collection is carefully designed to function in the same way as natural hyaluronic acid, allowing your face to quickly bounce back from breakouts, clogged pores, and unwanted wrinkles. Unlike other dermal fillers, RHA produces less stiff movements and expressions, giving you the appearance of an innate and radiant glow!
What’s the difference between RHA and Juvederm?
RHA® and Juvederm® fillers are both hyaluronic acid fillers that address fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss, but they differ in formulation and flexibility. RHA® fillers are specifically designed to adapt to dynamic facial movements, making them ideal for expressive areas like around the mouth and eyes. Juvederm® fillers are typically formulated for more static areas, adding volume and smoothness but with less flexibility for movement. For natural, expressive results, RHA® may be preferred, while Juvederm® is effective for contouring and enhancing more defined, static areas. Compared to other dermal fillers, RHA fillers have a long lifespan – they can produce results for up to 15 months after injection! Our skilled PA-C and APRN injectors will evaluate your facial structure and aesthetic goals to help you choose the product that is best for you.
Who’s a candidate for RHA dermal filler?
Candidates include adults in good health looking to restore volume and enhance facial contours. During the appointment, our experienced injectors will evaluate your facial structure and health history and then recommend a personalized RHA® dermal filler plan.
What to Expect during your filler appointment
Appointments typically take less than an hour, with results visible immediately. With the needle inserted, the application process should feel like a small pinch. The RHA dermal fillers themselves all contain lidocaine, ensuring a pleasant, comfortable duration of your procedure. Mild redness or swelling may occur, usually resolving in a day or two. Post-care involves avoiding strenuous activity, makeup, and touching the treated area for 24 hours. Unlike Juvederm®, RHA® fillers adapt dynamically to facial movement, providing a more flexible, natural look ideal for areas with expressive motion, such as around the mouth or eyes. RHA® comes in several formulations (RHA® 2, 3, and 4) tailored to various levels of volume and wrinkle depth, ensuring personalized results that suit your unique facial needs.
What to Expect After Dermal Fillers
Recovery after dermal filler injections varies based on the filler type, treatment area, and individual response. There is little to no downtime after receiving an RHA filler injection but due to possible bruising we do recommend scheduling any injectable appointments at least two weeks before an event. Common post-treatment effects include swelling, which typically lasts 3-4 days but can persist for up to two weeks, and possible bruising, usually resolving within a week. Mild tenderness is expected, and lumps or bumps may occur, particularly in the lips, softening over 2-4 weeks. While allergic reactions are rare, taking antihistamines can ease symptoms.
Post-Care Instructions
To promote healing, avoid intense physical activity for 24-48 hours and gently apply ice to minimize bruising. Sleeping with your head elevated can reduce swelling, and using topical arnica may help bruising fade faster. Avoid excessive sun or heat exposure until initial swelling and bruising subsides.
