How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling for acne scars, large pores, wrinkles, scarring, and other skin issues is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that uses tiny needles to gently puncture the skin. It stimulates the body to naturally prompt the healing process and produce collagen, called collagen induction therapy. Due to its minimally invasive nature, this procedure is safe for all skin tones.
When performed by a skilled and licensed skin specialist, microneedling causes the body to respond by healing the tiny holes made with the special microneedling pen with an ideal amount of collagen. This can result in the diminishment of scars, wrinkles, and other visible skin issues, as well as a more even skin tone and texture. What To Expect During A Microneedling Procedure
Microneeding is a highly versatile procedure that can be used on any skin-covered body area, including the face, neck, body, dècolletè, arms, hands, legs, stomach, and back. This makes it particularly beneficial for addressing a range of skin problems that may present differently on their face, for example, than on another area of their body. During microneedling therapy, your provider will attach a sterile, disposable cartridge with 9–32 micro-needles to the tip of the microneedling device.
Then they will apply a thin layer of serum, such as the AnteAGE MD Brightening Exosomes, to the treatment area and determine the specific micro-channeling treatment depth for your requirement and goals. Thereafter, they will gently glide the microneedling pen across your skin, treating the predetermined area. Contact us to learn more about what to expect during your microneedling procedure. In general, the procedure takes 15–30 minutes to complete, though this can vary depending on the degree of skin damage or severity of the issue and the size of the area to be treated.
Recovering From Microneedling
Directly after the procedure, patients notice a healthy, pink glow on their treated skin. The time it takes for your skin to fully heal will depend on several factors, including the severity of your skin condition and the depth of repair. In general, patients notice that their face appears pink for approximately 2–4 days after their microneedling session, while others may fully heal within 24 hours of treatment. After your treatment, your provider will provide specific microneedling aftercare instructions and product recommendations to help aid your skin’s natural healing process and help facilitate optimal recovery and results.
Does Microneedling Hurt?
When you come into our practice for microneedling pen treatment, we provide numerous preparation factors, such as topical numbing cream, that help ensure your treatment will go smoothly and that you will reap the maximum benefits from the procedure. These preparation factors also help minimize pain during the procedure.
Additionally, the unique design of the micro pen allows our providers to use individualized settings customized to the patient, allowing for a more comfortable treatment. In general, microneedling may cause some discomfort, but it does not necessarily hurt or cause pain. However, it’s worth noting that pain is subjective, and, as such, it’s important for patients to discuss any concerns they may have with their provider.
