Breast Reduction
At North Florida Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center, our breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, not only alleviates physical pain but also improves the aesthetic balance of your body. Our expert surgeons, Dr. David Mateo de Acosta and Dr. John W. Tyrone, specialize in providing personalized, compassionate care to ensure you feel confident and comfortable throughout your breast reduction journey.
Who Is A Good Candidate For Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction involves removing excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to reduce the size of the breasts. This procedure is ideal for women whose large breasts cause physical discomfort, such as back, neck, or shoulder pain, or who experience difficulty engaging in physical activities due to breast size.
Our team carefully tailors each surgery to the patient’s body type, ensuring both functional and aesthetic benefits—including a more proportional breast size that complements the body.
Who Is A Good Candidate For Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction is a great option if you:
- Experience back, neck, or shoulder pain due to large breasts
- Have difficulty finding clothes or bras that fit properly
- Struggle with physical activities due to breast size
- Are in good overall health and at a stable weight
During your consultation, Dr. David Mateo de Acosta or Dr. John W. Tyrone will assess your physical health and medical history to confirm whether you are a good candidate for a reduction mammoplasty.
What Is The Cost Of A Breast Reduction?
The cost of a breast reduction starts at $6,900 but is customizable and varies based on the estimated duration and extent of the reduction surgery, as well as whether additional procedures, like liposuction or breast lift, are needed. In some cases, breast reductions can be covered under insurance. Dr. David Mateo de Acosta is a provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance.
What To Expect Before And After A Breast Reduction
On the day of your surgery, you will arrive at our hospital-grade AAAASF-certified outpatient surgical facility. Breast reduction surgery is usually performed under IV sedation and most patients can return home the same day.
After your breast reduction, our team will ensure you receive excellent post-operative care. Your doctor will see you in the office the day after your surgery to ensure you are feeling well and answer any questions you may have.
Most patients can return to light-duty activities within 3-4 days. Some discomfort and swelling are normal in the first couple of weeks, with full recovery taking several weeks depending on the individual’s healing.
