Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the upper and/or lower eyelids by removing excess skin and fat. This subtle procedure can make your eyes appear more youthful and alert, helping to reduce signs of aging like drooping eyelids and puffiness. Whether you’re looking to improve vision impaired by sagging eyelids or simply want to refresh your appearance, blepharoplasty can be a life-changing solution.
At North Florida Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center, Dr. John W. Tyrone and Dr. David Mateo de Acosta provide blepharoplasty with a focus on natural results, ensuring you look refreshed while maintaining your unique facial characteristics.
Who Is A Good Candidate For Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is an ideal procedure for both men and women, aged 30 to 70, who feel that their upper or lower eyelids make them appear tired or older. Patients who experience drooping or sagging eyelids that impair vision or puffiness under the eyes are also good candidates.
If you’re also considering other facial procedures, blepharoplasty can be done in combination with a face and neck lift or brow lift for a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
Customizable Cost & Financing Options
The cost of blepharoplasty at North Florida Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center is customizable based on factors such as whether both the upper and lower lids are treated, the complexity of your case, and whether you opt to combine this procedure with others. We strive to make this treatment accessible with a range of financing options to suit your budget.
What To Expect On The Day Of Surgery
On the day of your blepharoplasty, you’ll arrive at our hospital-grade AAAASF-certified outpatient surgical facility. Depending on your specific needs, the procedure can be performed under local anesthetic (for standalone blepharoplasties) or anesthesia (when combined with other procedures such as a facelift or brow lift).
The surgery typically takes one to two hours, after which you’ll recover briefly in our facility before heading home the same day. Please arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
Recovery And Post-Operative Care
During recovery, you may experience some swelling and discomfort, which is completely normal. For the first 48 hours, we recommend using cool compresses intermittently to help reduce swelling and bruising. Additionally, you’ll need to keep your eyes moist with eye ointment at night and apply eye drops frequently throughout the day during your recovery.
Most patients dedicate the first week to rest and recovery, depending on their lifestyle. Swelling and bruising will continue to improve over the next two weeks, with most patients returning to normal activities within 1-2 weeks. Your surgeon will follow up with you by phone after the surgery and see you back in about a week for an in-office appointment to make sure you’re healing well and have all your questions answered.
